HeobtainedhisBEngandMEngdegreesfromHefeiUniversityofTechnologyinandrespectivelyandPhDfromImperialCollegeLondonin.Hethenworkedaspost-doctoralResearchFellowandSeniorResearchFellowatImperialCollegeandmovedtoJaguarLandRoverinwherehewaspromotedtoTechnicalSpecialistin.HejoinedtheUniversityofBirminghaminandwasappointedtoprofessorin.HeisoneofthepioneersusingArtificialIntelligence(AI)indesignandcontrolofpowertrainandelectrifiedvehicles.HehasoverSCIjournalpapersandconferencepublicationsincluding90SAETechnicalPaperswiththeScopusH-indexof38inengineandpowertrainresearchinvolvingbothexperimentalandmodellingstudies.HeisFellowofSAEInternationalandIMechE.Hewasawardedthetitleof‘BirminghamHero’forhiscontributiontoresearchinsustainabletransport.
